Pajama Game North County News Review

Successful melding. The director, along with his assistant and choreographer John Leonard, have successfully melded the acting, dance, movement, choreography and score. The signature musical number, "Steam Heat," featuring Bob Fosse's unmistakable dance style, was particularly effective, while Hernando's Hideaway was brought into the audience, making it an exciting moment. Musical director Antony Travaglini leads the nine-piece orchestra of Lakeland High School students. Kudos to Chrissy Phillips as Babe Williams and Jim DeBlasi as Sid Sorokin. Individually and in tandem, they were a pleasant treat. Their beautiful voices on "Hey There" and "Small Talk were a joy. Principal performers Paul McGrath (Hines), John Renna (Prez), and Ellen Reing (Mabel) all deserve recognition. Set design by Dale Phillips gave the production many varied, imaginative sets. Costumes by Loretta LaPeter were right on. Now in its 11th year, Spotlight Thetre Company recently received a "Proclamation of Merit" from Westchester County Executive Andrew J. Spano, saluting its contributions through the years." North County News April 25 to May 1, 2007 Spotlight's 'The Pajama Game' is worth every cent by Dyke Kolbert |
